HOW TO USE CATTERALL PRE-CAHSEE TEST IN PLACE OF ED-PERFORMANCE PRE-ENROLLMENT EXAM

Use internet explorer to go to: http://info.isistrac.com/isistest/ , have the student enter their information, and click on the button start the exam. The section of the test will take about 30 minutes to complete for each of two parts (English and Math) that will be required for entry.

The once student selects a test and hits the “Start Test”. No breaks are allowed for each section of the test.

Once the test has been started the student will not be able to close the screen until the test has been completed. Student up and scroll and down within the page to read and select the correct answers for each question.

The student can skip questions and later return to answer.

The student is returned to answer all those questions that have been skipped earlier in the test and this is indicated by the fact that all buttons are grayed forcing the student to answer the current question to proceed. Once the test is completed, the student can exit the test and close Internet Explorer.

Testing content overview:
Students should be told up front about the main purposes of this CAHSEE Diagnostic Tests.  The main purpose is to identify student strengths and weaknesses regarding the ELA and Mathematics content addressed on the CAHSEE to help OFY/OFL guide students to success on the exit examinations.  This first administration of the CDT will allow this organization to compare the results on this diagnostic test to past and future student performance on the actual CAHSEE tests.

The CDTs will be given in three segments.  The first is short answer reading and writing.  The second is an essay composition.  The third is a math diagnostic.
The test should be given in three separate administrations, on two or three days.

I.  The reading and writing items 1-39.
2. The essay, item 40.
3. The math items 1-52.

Students should be informed of the suggested time for each section and that they will be able to secure extra time if they discover they need the time. Students should be able to go back through the section they are working on at any time during the suggested and extra (if chosen) time.  Students should be informed of this flexibility.

1.  The ELA test items 1-39 should be given in one administration with a 10 minute break after Question 20.The total suggested time for Questions 1-39 including the break is 90 minutes.  Students who request extra time after 90 minutes may be given another 30 minutes -- students should be able to request extra time electronically.

2.  The writing test (Item 40) should have an allowed time of 1hr. and 20 minutes.  (80 minutes).  This test MAY be given on the same day after a student completes section 1, at the student's discretion.  If administered on the same day, allow a 20 minute break between finishing section 1 and beginning section 2, the essay. If a student requests additional time on the essay, please allow an additional 20 minutes.

3.  If the student does not take the Essay test and the Reading/Writing test on the same day, the
Essay test should be administered on the next or a close subsequent day.

4.  The math test should be administered last, between 1 and 3 days after completing the two first sections.

5.  Students and teachers should NOT be given instant results on any of these tests.  The meaning of the results will be known to us as we analyze results and teachers will be instructed about discussing results with their students.

Please call or write us with any questions or comments about the operation and administration of these tests:
